Risk disclosure

Last updated: 17 September 2026

⚠️ Trading cryptocurrency and derivatives carries a high risk of losing all of your funds. Trade only with money you can afford to lose. If you do not understand how margin, leverage and liquidation work, do not connect an exchange and do not trade.

1. What HookScreener is, and what it is not

HookScreener provides a software interface to your own account at an exchange. We are not a broker, dealer, investment adviser or asset manager. We do not accept or hold your funds, we do not execute orders, and we are not a party to your trades: each trade is concluded directly between you and the exchange, under that exchange's own rules.

Every decision β€” what to buy or sell, at what price, in what size and at what leverage β€” is yours. Signals, figures, highlights and any other data shown in the terminal are information about market activity and are not financial, investment or trading advice, an offer, or an inducement to trade.

2. API keys, and what we cannot do

Your API key is encrypted in your own browser with a password only you know and is never sent to our servers. That is for your protection, and it has a direct consequence: we are technically unable to cancel, amend or reimburse an order once it has been sent, and unable to access your account on your behalf.

You are responsible for the permissions you grant the key. The terminal needs read and futures-trading permissions only; withdrawal permission is not required. The exchange does not allow a browser to read a key's permissions, so checking them is yours to do. If you lose the key's password it cannot be recovered β€” you will need to issue a new key at the exchange.

3. The Service is provided "as is"

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of uninterrupted operation, data accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or freedom from errors.

In particular, we do not warrant that:

  • the terminal, its data or its connection to an exchange will be available at any given moment;
  • displayed prices, sizes, positions and calculations will match the exchange's own;
  • an order will be sent, filled, cancelled or amended as you expect;
  • the software is free of defects.

4. Risks you accept

By connecting an exchange and trading through the terminal you accept, among others:

  • market risk β€” the price can move against you, including sharply and with gaps; when trading with leverage your position may be liquidated and all posted funds lost;
  • your own error β€” a wrong price, size, side or leverage, or an accidental click, including via a hotkey;
  • technical risk β€” failure or latency of your connection, browser or device, of our software, or of the exchange's infrastructure; displayed data diverging from the true state of your account;
  • exchange risk β€” limits, blocks, rule changes, trading halts, and orders rejected or re-executed on the exchange's side;
  • liquidity risk β€” execution at a price other than expected (slippage), particularly with market orders and in illiquid instruments.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any losses, including lost profit, lost revenue, funds lost through trading, liquidation of a position, an unsent, erroneous or delayed order, nor for any indirect or incidental losses arising in connection with your use of the Service.

Nothing in this limitation affects liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

6. Demo mode

Demo mode exists so you can learn the interface: no order is sent to an exchange, and results are computed locally and do not reflect all real costs and constraints (including slippage, funding, partial fills and exchange limits). Demo results are not indicative of future results in live trading.

7. Your responsibility and the law

You confirm that you are permitted to trade the chosen instruments under the laws of your country and of your country of tax residence, that you are of the required age, and that you are solely responsible for your taxes and for complying with applicable requirements. The Service is not intended for anyone prohibited from such trading.

8. Availability of the feature

We may suspend or restrict the trading feature at any time and without prior notice β€” entirely, or for particular users, exchanges or instruments β€” including in order to fix faults and for security reasons.

9. Changes

We may update this risk disclosure. Where the changes are material we will ask for your consent again the next time you connect an exchange. The current version is always available at hookscreener.com/risk.
